The Company of Community Organisers (COLtd) is the national training and membership body for Community Organisers in England. Through our work and programmes we are encouraging and supporting social action in neighbourhood’s across the country.
COLtd is the national organisation supporting over 200 active Community Organisers in communities around England. All of our Community Organisers are working hard in communities, listening, building networks and transforming communities for good.
Our work is deeply rooted in neighbourhoods across England. Organising is the work of building relationships in communities to create social and political change through collective action.
Our aims are:
- to offer bespoke services and ongoing support
- to provide training and mentoring for Organisers
- to build the case and raise the profile of Community Organising in the UK
- to broker employment opportunities for Community Organisers.
- to ensure the growth of the movement through training and support
We have a small core team who are directed by a board made up of Community Organisers, representatives of organisations that have employed Organisers in the past and other stakeholder representatives.
We launched independently in the summer of 2015 and have been piloting support and training for our members, with their collaboration and feedback. During our development stage we have been delivering training for organisations like First Steps. We deliver, design and facilitate online webinars in our ‘Community Organisers and…’ series. COLtd has developed an effective brokerage association that offers solutions for groups/projects/leaders/councils etc needing engagement support in their areas.
