On this course you will explore and develop your understanding of power, which is what drives community organising: what power means and how power can be built in community to overcome social injustice and create change.
You will explore:
- your personal power and ability to act
- how power is exercised in society
- what it means to organise for change
- how to begin to pinpoint the causes of social injustice
- how to build power with others through community organising
These courses also provide a reminder of the basics of community organising, which are covered in our Introduction to Community Organising course. If you haven’t been on our Introduction course, we would encourage you to do this before signing up to our other courses.
The courses each last for seven hours. Like all of our training sessions, they are inspiring and interactive. Each is designed so that everybody can take part, share their ideas and experiences and practice their skills.
The main message that stood out for me was of community organisers gaining collective power of people.
