ACORN Communities (Newcastle)

ACORN is a federation of locally accountable community organising groups, which has been growing in England since 2014. In Newcastle, ACORN has a core group of 30 volunteers and a wider network of members and supporters.

ACORN Newcastle has already been training local leaders to listen to local people and take action on issues that matter to them, with a focus recently on two key issues – the quality of rented housing and the quality of the local environment, especially littering. The focus of the work over the next three years will be in two neighbourhoods of Newcastle – Fenham and Elswick, although training will be on offer to anyone in Newcastle wanting to learn more about community organising.

ACORN Newcastle is an Organisational Trustee member of the Community Organisers’ Board.
