CO21 – The Positive Power of Place

Over the last 18 months, the importance of the places where we live has been put in the spotlight like never before. As our physical movements were restricted due to the pandemic, we began hearing stories of how some people were getting involved in their communities for the first time. For others, lockdown highlighted how disconnected and isolated they felt from the people living near them. In either case, the power of place to become a unifier that holds us in common is now clear.

As we look ahead to our four-day online festival, the questions we want to focus on are:

  • How can we recognise and celebrate what makes our places special?
  • How do we learn the lessons of the past 18 months about place?
  • How do we ensure greater equity and involvement within and across places?

CO21 is a festival of grassroots community action. Focussing on The Positive Power of Place. Through a series of online conversations, webinars, and training events. Together we will explore what it takes to put people and power at the heart of our places.

When is CO21?

CO21 will run from Tuesday the 21st of September, until Friday the 24th of September. Workshops and activities will run throughout the day with some evening sessions too.

Where is CO21?

CO21 will be held online this year. All of the workshops and activities will be facilitated using Zoom. Links for ticket holders to sign up for individual workshops will be sent out nearer to the event.

Accessibility

We want to make CO21 as accessible and inclusive as possible. Leaning from last year’s online event we will;

  • Enable the closed caption option on Zoom to provide automatic subtitles for the workshops and webinars
  • Hold regular ‘comfort breaks’ in every session to allow us all to have time away from the screen
  • Record the sessions wherever possible so that you can watch them back at a time that is convenient to you
  • Ensure spaces in between workshops so that you have time to refresh

If you think there are other things that we could do to make CO21 more accessible, please contact us at hello@corganisers.org.uk and we will do our best to make the required changes.

How much does it cost to attend CO21?

We are giving people the opportunity to sign up for CO21 at the ‘early bird’ price of just £14. The early bird offer ends on Friday 10th of September when the price of the event will go up to £20. Attendees will be able to access any of the workshops over the four days.

  • Early Bird Ticket Price £14
  • Normal Ticket Price £20

Sponsor a Ticket

When purchasing your ticket, there is also the ‘sponsor a ticket’ option as a way to help someone else attend the event who otherwise couldn’t. We allocate sponsored tickets to Social Action Hub volunteers or other members who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend.

We don’t want anyone to miss out on the event because of the cost of attending. Please contact us confidentially on hello@corganisers.org.uk if you are unable to meet the cost of a ticket and we will try our best to help.

CO21 is on course to be our biggest national event so far.
