We have worked with Pimlico Million, part of the Big Local programme in Westminster to provide guidance, training, and
support to find and train leaders to build community power and create the change they want to see.
Working closely with Nawal Lakhdar, Community Engagement Manager, Megan Warren, Giving Manager, and local stakeholders, our Lead Trainer, Moussa Amine Sylla brought his expertise to deliver accredited training in Community Organising.
With a focus on Listening, Action for Change, Leadership, wellbeing and Advocacy Skills — he geared this training toward finding natural leaders and motivating them to believe they had the ability to create change.
By creating such leaders you can build a lasting legacy of community power and by starting where people are at and the needs of the community you can ensure you are supporting grassroots initiatives that are truly meaningful to local people.
We were delighted to work in partnership with Moussa to deliver well needed training for our local community leaders. Our aim was to deliver a training , which will provide local leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to bring about positive change in their communities.

This training helped them understand their own power and potential to make a difference, especially those who may have been overlooked or excluded from traditional decision-making in the past.
They had the opportunity to explore and analyse problems, identify power structures, and collectively coming up with solutions to certain local issues like anti-social behaviour.
Rather than focusing on quick fixes, these kind of trainings builds sustainable movements and develops leadership for the long haul.

As the programme draws to a close, there has been much to celebrate.
Deep connections and trust has been built with local authorities such as Westminster Council, and inspiring organisations like The Abbey Centre and Churchill Gardens Residents’ Association with special kudos to the locally trusted organisation who host Pimlico Million, Quaker Social Action, whose role has been instrumental to the programme’s success.
This was such a meaningful event. It was both insightful and inspiring. It was great to connect with everyone and feel the collective passion for making a difference in our communities. I truly appreciate the opportunity to be part of
this effort.
Suja Alsalman, Community Development Project Manager (South borough) Westminster City Council
This training was not the end — it was just the beginning of their Big Local Legacy to create strong communities. Because, as it says: “Strong communities are built on strong connections.”
Pimlico Million have created a short documentary to reflect upon the last 10 years of achievements.
