TCC (Trefnu Cymunedol Cymru / Together Creating Communities)

TCC was founded in 1995.  They tackle social injustice by supporting diverse communities to gain the power they need to enact change.  They do this through community organising: bringing together local groups, so they can set their own agenda, take action, and improve their communities.

Their members are many different community groups, faith groups, and schools, from across Wrexham, Flintshire, and Denbighshire.  Any of their members can raise an issue for TCC to work on—so they set their agenda.

They train people from their member groups to take action for themselves.  This means they have the skills and confidence to approach the people in power, and get them to make a decision which will benefit the local community.

Over the last 20 years TCC has been incredibly successful.  TCC, working with others, have introduced recycling for Wrexham instead of incineration, got employers to increase the wages of the lowest paid, got a Parkinson’s nurse to be based in the area,  made Wales the first ever Fairtrade country, and got a homeless shelter for Wrexham.
