Nick Laffan

Head of the National Academy of Community Organising

Nick is the Head of the National Academy of Community Organising working. His work involves working with the network of Social Action Hubs to oversee training delivery and quality assurance as well as supporting the development of new Hubs across England (and a bit of training delivery as well in between!)

Nick has spent the last 10 years involved with community organising. After training as a community organiser, and then subsequently training 100s of others, he setup his own business (www.freeriver.co.uk) to provide training and support in leadership – all very inspired by community organising.

In this role, Nick is bringing his experience, and expertise to ensure that the Academy can continue to develop and adapt it’s training offer so that the Organisation can respond to invitations from local people and work in more neighbourhoods to strengthen the movement of people involved with community organising.
