Jon Cousins

Community organiser

I am a seasoned community organiser; having been part of the original ‘Community Organisers Programme’, my work has also supported the application of the Community Rights and Neighbourhood Planning as well as the Community Organisers Expansion Programme.

I have been an active organiser in my home town of Glastonbury, where I am also a Town Councillor, and was Mayor of Glastonbury in 2016 and 2017.  Over the past eight years, I have applied community organising principles and practice as a Councillor, and have championed the participation of Glastonbury’s residents in the issues dealt with – and choices made – by the Town Council.  Helping to create opportunities for all members of the community to be listened to; for local people to not only have their say and make meaningful contributions to decision-making, but also be empowered to take action and make change.

Sometimes, as an organiser, I have even made movies with a pantomime horse..
